The IFC with the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) and Electricite du Laos (EDL) are assessing the potential for the development of power transmission lines using PPP models in Lao PDR with a specific focus on developing a high voltage corridor between southern Laos and central Vietnam. The first phase of development is to undertake a Pre Feasibility Study into the potential private sector investment in the development of power transmission  in Lao PDR, especially the southern Laos to central Vietnam corridor (SOLVEC), and to help prepare the ground for detailed structuring of private sector transactions. The environment and social (E&S) Scope of Work is to ensure that E&S aspects are adequately considered in the Pre Feasibility Study and fully integrated with the technical and economic considerations.
